Loneliness

Loneliness, I embrace you for the inspiration you deliver,

For the resistance that I broke through,

Yet sometimes I wonder if you hid me so I could nurture my fear of love?

My fear of letting someone in deep.

It’s easier to let myself in deep,

Swimming to the depths of it all

Where excuses are as far above as the sea level,

Where lies are in the distant skies.

Here, I’m beyond that realm.

I’m diving down to the dark rocks of truth.

To the treasure chest of light in the depths of the darkest emotion…

Ah, Loneliness,

Finally you I embrace.

You have served the strung-out writer, the catastrophic dreamer, the tragic rebel, the emotionally-sensitive-musical-response.

Loneliness, you I embrace.

For through my grip on you I found my peace,

And would do it all over again if it was necessary.

It is a necessity to be alone and to love loneliness

Because your silver lining cannot be found in a dual force,

It must first be found alone.

And it is a beautiful thing to love you, Loneliness.

I cannot cry for myself, but I’ll give my salt to you,

Loneliness.
